u don’t know where to begin to be mafia. mafia started during the Holocaust .
I play another one called Werewolf, but its pretty much the same idea. For this one, you need a narrator, someone who more or less sits out but controls the game play. Somehow you need to make cards or something so that everyone knows if they are a villager or a werewolf (2 werewolves, play with at least 8 people). Once you find out, you tell no one. The narrator starts to tell the story while everyone’s heads are down. They say that there is a village and at night while everyone is asleep, two werewolves eat one villager. Then he/she asks the werewolves to reveal themselves by lifting their heads and opening their eyes, they identify each other. The narrarator asks then, werewolves, who is your victim tonight. Then silently they choose one person, and point to them. The narrator will tap that person on the shoulder. The narrarator continues and says, all the villagers wake up in the morning to find one villager dead. The person tapped keeps their head down. Then everyone starts to discuss and argue who they think it is based upon how people are acting, accusing, behave, and perhaps on any sounds that they may have heard during the nighttime. Then after a few minutes, the narrarator takes a vote on who everyone wants to kill off. Whoever has the most votes to be killed (because they are thought to be the werewolf), will die. Then they reveal their identity if you want them to or not. Everyone goes back to sleep again and the same thing happens again. Another villager dies and everyone wakes up and argues. This is usually the last night, unless you are playing with a lot of people and you need a third round. Once you’ve killed a second person, then you may have only a couple people left, showing the werewolves.
Its one of the funnest games Ive played. Lots of debating and arguing and its a good way to mingle people who don’t know each other too, if you are having a small party!
OH, and to the first person that answered this… oh my. We are talking about a game (notice that mentioned in the question). Regardless, there were mafias long before the halocaust. That really doesn’t have much to do with the formation of the Mob.
I play it here.
It’s a free account and in this forum, there is nothing but Mafia games. There are four levels of play. Though I haven’t seen any standard games played. In the beginner games, there are 9 people. Usually one or two of them are experts that play to help out the inexperienced ones. Then as you progress, you can move onto the more experienced games. They are essentially the same but there are just more people playing.
Basically, you have 9 or more people. 2 are mafiates/scum or whatever they are called. They are the bad people. The rest is town. So far, I have only played in beginner games but I am going to try my first intermediate game. Anyways, in beginner, it starts off with day. Everyone talks about random stuff and then out of the random stuff, someone comes out looking “scummy”. They get votes and the person who has the majority vote gets lynched. Then it goes to night. In night, the mafiates talk to each other and figure out who they want to kill. There is also a cop (at night, can talk to the Game Organizer and find out an affiliation of any one person) and a Doc (can tell the GO who they want to save that night.) The Doc cannot save themself but if the Doc chooses a person and the mafiates choose that same person, then the person does not die. Then day 2 happens and everyone talks about what happened with day 1 and night 1. Then it keeps going on from there. There is a point in the game called LyLo. Which means Lynch now or Lose. It’s basically if you don’t lynch a mafiate during the day, the game is over because it is not mathically possible for town to win.
You should try it out on the site. Or at least see whats going on. You will like it. It’s hard but I like it.
