Why does my WII have a delay on online games?

I have a few games that I bought online for my WII but if i try to play them they have a second or two delay. Like if i push a button it dosn’t do the action until a second or two later. It is really annoying. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it? When i first bought the game about 7 months ago it didn’t do it, but it just started doing it recently??? Thanks!
yes, the problem actually started when we got our HD TV.

Either the game (and, in turn, Nintendo, who hates online gaming and only puts it in because it has to) or your connection. Make sure you have good signal strength and check your connection.
Have you recently upgraded to HDTV? A lot of the lower-quality HD sets do that.
Since it sounds like the HDTV is the issue, if you’re using “COMPONENT CABLES”, switch down to the traditional “red yellow white”.
I don’t really know, but if your internet connection is faulty then it may be that. I often have problems with SSB and our connection is fine!! Another thing that can make it slow down is the person you are playing with online has a faulty internet cable and that’s what causing the problem.
You may just be getting someone with a bad internet each time??
