American Gangster was based on the life of Frank Lucas?

Does anyone know if he returned back home to NOrth Carolina in real life, or did he stay up North. It never ceases to amaze me how strong, intelligent, and ambitious black men are. This man was able to rise above the Mafia in a time where most black men were not recognzied for most of thier efforts or contributions. It is so hypocritical that we look at the Italian mobsters as being larger than life, but when a black man rises to the top in his game he is looked at totally different.

I’m pretty sure he is hiding or laying low…..he is i77 yrs old and people probably still want to kill him.
What do “Italian mobsters” have to do with black drug dealers? Blacks are the ones who compare their UNorganized crime with organized crime and fancy themselves gangsters.
