Do you fear that the infusion of the hip hop culture is distorting the clean image of baseball?

I welcome people of all origins, but not the thuggish, gangster culture that is normally found in thuggish games such as football and basketball.

ah, i like the Yankees image, baseball is meant to be a clean game, and the Steinbrenner family has been in the business a long time, so its only respect thats keeping the tradition of clean cut players alive.
though i’m a yankee fan, i love the latin-fire, hype image that Cano and Melky have going, its really fun to watch, and in a few years they might be up there for the batting title.
the mets have a good core of young players, but i just dont think that they will have the veteran leadership and the one true player who brings the whole team together like Jeter Posada or Mariano on the Yankees. THey all mentor players under them, i dont really see that with the mets…
although im a fan of scrappy baseball and scrappy playres, i dont encourage the hip-hop image, though i have a shitload of rap on my iPod.

I get what you’re saying, and it is dissapointing to an extent, but, I mean, if you’re a ‘thuggish, gangster’ that can play baseball, who am I to say that you shouldn’t play? I don’t agree with the Yankees policies on haircuts, etc., so I guess it’s something we’ll have to live with.
Hockey’s still fairly gangster-less. Try that out for awhile.
I very well understand what you’re saying. I don’t like the fact that we are having the “gangster” culture brought into the best sport around the world. The only thing is that, baseball has not gotten out of hand at any point in time. Yes, we’ve had a few brawls here and there, just like in the past, but nothing out of hand. The umpires we have today and the coaching staffs around the country make sure they’re teams are topnotch. If any thing were to happen that baseball turns around into a basketball game, then Bud Selig will put everyone in order.
Baseball is a game of HGH, Steroid, Cheater, Nasty(spit tobacco), Boring, Long. It is the other way around, Hip Hop will save baseball from going to the toilet.
