Can playing online games slow down your computer?

online games
Gazza21 asked:

After playing online games such as jigsaws and bejewelled I find my computer very slow to react and also on start-up. Disk defragmentation takes hours also. BTW Its a new computer!

If it involves a download, yes it will. But if not, I don’t think so…

it can slow it down while you play it, but once you turn it off it shouldnt show any signs of slowing down.

If its slow on start up, it has nothing to do with the games you’re playing. It means something else is loading up on windows that is slowing down the computer. Run a virus/spyware scan ( and go to housecall, its a free scan you can do online) . That usually does the trick.

Maybe you got a virus, they can slow down your computer.
Or maybe it’s something else less serious, do a virus scan never the less.

Well, Disk “Defraging” is good for your computer. Since it’s new, it will help it even more. If you’re having problems with your computer being slopw after playing online games, you can always try deleting your Temp Files.

[Tools--> Internet Options --> Settings --> View Files --> Delete Everything in that Folder]

Your computer can also be acting slow because of the fact that you don’t have the right program to play the game.
