Do online games such as World of Warcraft use up my downloads?

I’m not talking about games on websites (such as Runescape, etc) games that have been installed on my PC.
We have used up 12gb in two weeks (conveniently the same time my brother began to play a game called 12sky.
So i was just wondering if that could be the source of all this downloading.
