Nice question.
No one can explain to ya how to lock down your computer in an answer forum. You need to take your tower to a reputable professional, preferably a small, trusted business. Make sure you get a good warranty for the work so if you screw it up again he or she can clean it out again.
There’s always a chance your comp has a mechanical problem which can do permanent damage if it is not properly diagnosed.
Most likely they’re unrelated. The interface is not set up to enable people such interaction. Unless they’ve already hacked into your system. More likely your system was overloaded. Make sure you do routine maintenance (disk cleanup and defragmentation) and that you don’t keep too many windows open or too many applications running.
