How do you beta test online games?
Diamond asked:
Okay I know I’m a girl, and not a lot of girls like online games and stuff like that, but I grew up with two older game freak brothers, there as I became a game freak. Now enough of me rambling I’ve seen that there are a lot of people beta testing new online games, and I want some information on that. Does it cost? Where do you test them? How do you find out about them? Etc..

It doesn’t cost. When new online games come out, they normally do public beta testing weeks before release. For example – When Warhammer online was coming out they had there pro’s do beta testing, then public beta testing, in some cases you have to apply to the website to obtain an access code that will grant you access to the beta. You can even get them from places like EB Games, and GAME ect.. but there is a limited amount of beta access codes.
I’m beta testing a new game called Jade Dynasty…. mmorpg.com listed it as open beta testing on it’s site. Just click the link and follow the instructions. Most developers offer open beta testing to a limited number of players via gaming websites or emails of current gamers.
It doesn’t cost, (and you might even be paid.) The easiest way to become a tester is to work for the company, if that isn’t an option than look around, some games will have open beta’s and some will have closed beta’s where people will be selected at random. If you become a tester than it is pretty much dumb luck. I tested “ZOMG!”.
